DSI Company Limited in South Korea has been awarded LWG Gold Certificate under Quantum Systems able guidance, which the company says is cementing its commitment to Sustainable Leather Production. This was the 3rd LWG Certification Audit for DSI Company Ltd. DSI Company Limited was established in the Year 1987 and was operating at ANSAN Site till Mid 2017. The Production at POCHEON Site was in commission since late 2017 which is a newly built and operated tannery with $100 Million Dollar Investment. Main Customers are International Brands like Michael Kors, Kate Spade/Mark Jacobs and COACH etc. Though the Tannery had Beamhouse Operations during the Last LWG Certification Audit, but due to lack of enough Orders considering COVID Pandemic, the Tannery has been operating from Wetblue to Finishing Operations (Category D) since April 2020. The Processing Waste Water is discharged to the METP (Pocheon Jangja General Industrial Complex Waste Water Treatment Plant) which is 500 Meters away from the Tannery.

DSIC prefers sourcing of Part Processed Leather from LWG Audited Suppliers and has exerted a mandate of minimum 80% Part Processed Wetblue Sourcing from LWG Audited Tanneries or Traders. Purchase Orders of the Wetblue Procurement are done telephonically or through Email Confirmation. Upon receipt of Input Materials & the Final Invoice from the Trader or Wetblue Supplier. Upon receipt of Input Materials & the Final Invoice from the Part-Processed Material Supplier or Trader the Payment is released. DSIC Procurement Team ensures thorough validation of the Procurement Transaction Documents wherein the Part Processed Material Supplier’s Shipping Address needs to match with the LWG Audited Supplier’s Address mentioned on the LWG Certificate or LWG Website. The company is ISO 14001:2015 Certified. There is also a comprehensive, robust in-house written environmental policy for the company which has been communicated effectively to facility staff through training, meetings and notice boards.
