Supply Chain Security Management System
ISO 28000:2022 includes requirements of a Supply Chain Security Management System particularly dealing with Security Assurance. ISO 28000:2022 supports minimization of the Risks related to Security Incidents to manage Compliance with the Legal, Regulatory & Voluntary Obligations, align Security Processes & Controls and therefore offer Problem-Free 'Just in Time' Delivery of Goods & Supplies. The Standard requirements are generic and are intended to be applicable to all organizations, regardless of type, size or nature. This second edition of ISO 28000 cancels and replaces the first edition from 2007. The primary objective of the revision was to align the standard to the Harmonized Structure (HS) laid out in the ISO Directives Annex SL Appendix 2 for ISO Managements System Standards in its latest version. The latest revision of ISO 28000 makes it even easier to create an Integrated Management System, including standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22301, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 22000 and others. ISO 22000:2018 facilitates alignment of the Supply Chain Security Management System Policy, Objectives, Performance Criteria & Certification Scope compatible with the Context & Strategic Direction of the Organization. ISO 28000:2022 applies the Plan-Do-Scheck-Act (PDCA) Model to planning, establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and continually improving the effectiveness of the organization’s Security Management System. Security management is related to many aspects of business management. They include all activities controlled or influenced by organizations, including but not limited to those that affect the supply chain. With regard to the supply chain, their dynamic nature must be taken into account. Therefore, some organizations operating multiple supply chains may require their suppliers to meet relevant security standards as a condition for inclusion in that supply chain. The standard increases the level of security of the entire supply chain of goods, vehicles and transport infrastructure from potential threats of theft, smuggling and terrorism.
