AMFORI BUSINESS ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE INITIATIVE

The Business Environmental Performance Initiative (BEPI) is a business-driven service provided by amfori for retailers, importers and brands committed to improving environmental performance in supplying factories and farms worldwide. In today’s fast-moving global markets, businesses need to address environmental challenges in their direct operations and across their supply chain and at the same time, society is demanding greater transparency and accountability. amfori BEPI was founded in 2013 and provides a comprehensive range of services that enable companies to drive focused environmental improvements in their supply chain and to trade with purpose. The BEPI self-assessment is the fi rst step in assessing environmental performance at producer level. It covers a comprehensive set of 11 Environmental Performance Areas and is based on the GSCP Environmental Reference Tools. BEPI determines relative environmental performance, identifies weaknesses in performance and quantifies performance gaps. The amfori BEPI provides practical advice on environmental issues empower members and suppliers to take action across their supply chain. amfori BEPI Environmental assessments will help the facility understand how well they are managing environmental issues, how to improve the performance thanks to the proposed correction actions plan and how will communicate and promote the performance with their stakeholders. amfori BEPI Chemical Management Audits (CMA) evaluate the level of implementation of an organization’s chemical management system and determine the capability and effectiveness of the management system ensuring continual conformity with customer requirements, statutory and regulatory requirements and the defined scope of activities. The protocol is to be used for factories from the textile and footwear sector only.
